May 2013 Election Candidates in General Santos City

April is nearing its end and no sooner will May take over. And guess what, Elections will kick in. As I observed, election campaigns are not as fervent and controversial like the previous years. I saw only a few campaigns on TV and not much leaflets are distributed or bills are posted. Though occasionally, I get to hear trucks roving around with their loud announcements. Well, I take that as a sign of good political atmosphere in the city.

So who are the forerunners of this year’s local election? Well, there are two major competing parties in the City’s election, namely, People’s Champ Movement – United Nationalist Alliance (PCM-UNA) and Achievement with Integrity Movement (AIM). NPC (National People’s Coalition) and LP (Liberal Party) are also existent. Moreover, there are a few Independent candidates, particularly for Councilors.

Here are the candidates for the two highest positions in the City:

City Mayor

1. ANTONINO-CUSTODIO, DARLENE (NPC)

2. RIVERA, RONNEL (PCM-UNA)

Vice Mayor

1. BAÑAS-NOGRALES, SHIRLYN (PCM-UNA)

2. LEYSON, EDUARDO III (LP)

For the councilors, the Generals would have a hard time choosing as there is a number of candidates. Here they are:

1. ABING, BROD (UNA)

2. ALCOSER, MELCHOR (Ind)

3. ATENDIDO, RICHARD (AIM)

4. AVILA, JUN (AIM)
