Mindanao State University – General Santos City has another reason to cheer as its College of Law extension campus produced 11 new lawyers.
5,990 law graduates took the licensure examination last November 2011 at the University of Sto. Tomas (UST) in Manila. Last February 29, results were finally released and 31.94% or 1,913 passed the examination. This is the second highest passing rate for the last decade, 32.89% in 2001 being the highest.
Of this figure, 11 came from MSU-GSC College of Law, posting a passing average of 32.35%. The eleven were among the 34 MSU graduates who took the examination. According to Lawyer Mariano Lugares, dean of the College of Law, the 32.35% rating, which is higher than the national passing rate, is a big leap from the 18% average last year.
