Manny Pacquiao as Bible Ambassador

General Santos City’s great hero Manny Pacquiao has just been named as Bible Ambassador by the Roman Catholic Church.

On behalf of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), Bishop Virgilio David extended the offer to Manny Pacquiao back in January 30 earlier this year. The idea came up after the bishop saw how Filipino born US football star Tim Tebow (dubbed as “God’s quarterback”) made a positive impact to the Catholic world, especially to the youth. Manny Pacquaio was cited to be the perfect ambassador despite his marital and personal issues.

The world-boxing champion has likewise no doubts in taking the offer as the Bible Ambassador. According to him, the Almighty gave him a message in a dream. In the dream, Pacquiao said that he found himself in a forest, where a bright light shone, believed to be God, asking the fighter why he was veering away from Him. He said, “I woke up crying. I remember I was crying in my dream and when I touched my pillow, it was wet.”

So all is well that ends well. Congressman Manny Pacquiao is now officially the Bible Ambassador. The CBCP hopes that his pronouncement to the seat will influence everyone to be Bible readers, God-fearing, and faithful Christians.

As part of his moral obligations as Bible Ambassador, Congressman Pacquiao has undergone some kind of reformation. He is seen more involved in outreach programs and charitable works. His disco bar has been closed and his other vices have been stopped (apparently). Almost every night, prayer ad worship sessions are held in his home. In a TV interview, Mommy Dionisia expressed her deep happiness that her beloved son adapted this way of life. She has frequently expressed her wish that Manny retire from boxing. Maybe, that prayer would be granted any time soon. I can hear her say, “Tink you bery mats!.”

The question now is this: Do you think boxing champion and congressman Manny Pacquiao is a great Bible Ambassador?
