About SOCCSKSARGEN



SOCCSKSARGEN represents the Region XII of Philippines and is located in south central Mindanao. The name stands for the region's four provinces and one city, namely: South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, and General Santos City. The regional center is Koronadal City located in the province of South Cotabato.The region has extensive coastlines, valleys and mountain ranges. Known for its river system, the region is the catch basin of Mindanao. The system is a rich source of food, potable water and energy production.

SOCCSKSARGEN has three component cities, one independent city, and one highly urbanized city. They are: Cotabato City (regional center of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao), General Santos City (dubbed as "Tuna Capital of the Philippines), Kidapawan City (known as "A Spring in the Highlands), Koronadal City (hailed as the "Sports Mecca of the South"), and Tacurong City.

Some of the notable landmarks in the region are the Mt. Apo in  Kidapawan City, Lake Sebu in South Cotabato, Baras Bird Sanctuary in Tacurong City, Gumasa Beach in Glan, and the Fishport Complex in General Santos City.
