One of the key places to visit in Baguio City is the
Philippine Military Academy. The place is not just an academic stronghold of
military trainees, but it also offers fresh sites where friends and families
can simply bask in the cold air and enjoy the myriad attractions.
According to my friend (Wikipedia), the Philippine Military
Academy (PMA), serving as the country’s military school of the Armed Forces of
the Philippines, was established on December 21, 1936 by the virtue of
Commonwealth Act No. 1.
The PMA was initially established as Academia Militar on
October 25, 1898 at Malolos, Bulacan, and later as Officer’s School of the
Philippine Constabulary on February 17, 1905 at Intramuros, Manila. It was only
in September 1, 1908 that the school was relocated to Baguio City, and on
December 21, 1935, it was renamed Philippine Military Academy. It was then permitted
to grant Bachelor of Science degree after completion of their four-year curriculum.
The school is open for guests and visitors. And when I and
my friends went there, we couldn’t help but be amazed at the amazing sites
everywhere. In the road entering the school, they had this oval thing erected
which I don’t know what. LOL
Towering buildings and honorary structures are spread
everywhere….
Parks just can be found all around. Anyone can have fun with
their countless displays such as a boat with machine gun, sun dial, and planes….
They also have this treehouse which will give you a good
view of the campus….
The school simply gives a good venue for some selfies and
pictorials. LOL…
And of course, the cadets and trainees can be found jogging
or marching around the campus.
So if you are up for some unconventional itinerary in your
trip to Baguio City, try visiting the Philippine Military Academy. Well, this
is what I got for myself at PMA.
