GENSANarium will be on hiatus for the next two years or so. For the mean time, posts subtitled as SIDE TRIPS will be featured which highlight other places and events in the Philippines. Enjoy! - Admin, 2/10/14

Congratulations, Paco!

Over the past days, posters and images supporting Paco flooded social networking sites. Text messages were sent and he was the frequent word of mouth. Finally last night, the nation’s verdict was announced and Paco was hailed as the 4th placer (or 3rd runner-up).

Yes, Paco was the first one to be called out of the Pinoy Big Brother House and out of the Big Four. That announcement lost the chance of another General being the grand champion of Big Brother. Still, it is a big honor that a fellow kababayang General once again made it to the finals’ night, following the accomplishments of Gerald Anderson and Melissa “Melai” Cantiveros.

Throughout the season of Pinoy Big Brother, I think Paco had never been the audience’s favorite. He had always been the hold-no-bars, open-minded, and outspoken housemate. His strong personality must have been both his strength and weakness. It enabled him to be competitive and frank fighter, yet this same quality turned off the viewers.

Once, he was evicted, but Big Brother saw through his soul and retained him inside the House. After he became a house player and posed outrageous challenges to the remaining housemates, he was once again declared as official housemate as decided through audience votes. I guess it was truly hard for him being the house player as he was seen as “evil” by the housemates. But he persisted despite the judgments on his character, did his obligations, and helped his fellow housemates succeed. That might have changed the hearts of the audience, enough that he became a housemate again.

I thought he had a strong fight last night. As determined by the audience’s votes, he was proclaimed as the 4th placer. I honestly expected a higher rank for him. Still, he brought pride to the Generals.

Congratulations, PACO Evangelista!
