Last night, I and some friends got to enjoy the Christmas break in one of the great beach resorts here in General Santos City – the London Beach Resort.
After being gone in business for so long, London Beach Resort reopened this year under a new management. It has been accepted very well and last night, I got to see firsthand how Generals love the “new” beach.
It was past eight in the night when I and my buddy arrived at London Beach Resort. We saw some acquaintances around and spent some few minutes saying our “hellos” and catching up with them. Then we look for our friends and saw them setting up the table and the tent. Holy crap! They were not able to avail a cottage (all cottages were taken, as well as all the rooms in their lodge). I think we were lucky enough that we had one of the last two tents for rent. Gees, we should have been earlier.
Amazingly, the beach resort was very full. Several tents lined up the coast and multitudes were already swimming in the cold water. The mood was very festive. The air smelled of both saltwater and food – grilled seafood, lechon (roasted pork), salads, cakes, and many other. Well, we also got to share something with the mood and we took out our food and booze. With the loud music from the nearby cottages, the night and the happening had begun.
Later, the others began firing some firecrackers, adding more electricity to the party air. By around half past one in the morning, fireworks display dazzled in the dark sky. It was not actually from the London Beach but from the nearby one. Still, the ten-to-fifteen-minute display of wonderful colors was breathe-taking and fun.
The alcohol continued to overflow, the people continued to feast and swim, the music continued to blare, and the fun continued to rock.
By six in the morning, we finally dipped in the water. It was freezing cold, but like us, a lot of people dared swim into it. More remarkably, more people were coming to the beach.
I guess the great reception of the Generals to London Beach Resort is due to the amazing services the resort has to offer. The beach itself is not actually overly beautiful, but the water is clean and the sand is fine, clear of large pebbles and shark rocks. They also have clean pool, restrooms, cottages and facilities. The guards are only very conspicuous and safety is very much assured. There are personnel who constantly clean the beach area, picking up bottles and sweeping up plastics and wastes. In general, London Beach Resort is a great place to spend time with friends and loved ones.
In the end, it is the wonderful memories that will forever remain in our hearts.
